Angerer Receives Excellence in Education Award

Lawmaker praised for commitment to promoting and improving education

LANSING – The Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) honored State Representative Kathy Angerer (D-Dundee) today by presenting her with the Excellence in Education Award at the 8th Annual AT&T/MACUL Student Technology Showcase.

"It is an honor to be recognized for helping to improve the education of our young residents," said Angerer, a member of the House Education Committee. "Michigan will need a well-educated workforce to compete in the 21st century global economy, and bring investment and jobs to our state. We must make it a top priority to ensure that every student gets a high-quality education."

The award, which was presented by representatives of AT&T and the MACUL, is awarded to lawmakers who have proven their dedication to improving Michigan's schools.

The MACUL recognized Angerer for her leadership in being one of the first citizens in her community to respond to school overcrowding, as she brought together parents, teachers, educators and local leaders to build a new school. Angerer was recently elected to a third term in the Michigan House of Representatives, and she will take over the position of Majority Floor Leader when the 95th Legislature convenes in January. Angerer currently sits on both the House Education and Energy and Technology committees

"The MACUL does a great job in bringing our educators together and promoting the use of technology to make our schools the best they can be," Angerer said. "Just as our teachers strive daily to improve the lives of our students, I will continue to work to ensure our schools and educators have the resources they need to prepare our children for good-paying, high-demand jobs."

The Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning is an organization dedicated to bringing educators from all levels together to share their knowledge and concerns regarding educational uses of computers and technology.
