LANSING – House Majority Floor Leader Kathy Angerer (D-Dundee) has been appointed to serve on the House Fiscal Agency (HFA) Governing Board and as a member of the Legislative Council for the 95th Legislature.
"These new positions will allow me to continue to improve the way state government works in Michigan and ensure it is working to the best of its ability," Angerer said. "In order to create a working budget and effective financial policies that will turn our economy around, we are going to need effective collaboration between the Legislature and the House Fiscal Agency. I look forward to helping foster that collaborative spirit, as well as working to make sure our lawmakers have the resources they need to effectively represent their communities."
The HFA is an agency that provides confidential, nonpartisan expertise to the House Appropriations Committee and all other members of the House on legislative fiscal matters. As a member of its six-person governing board, Angerer will be responsible for providing oversight to the agency, establishing its operating procedures and appointing the HFA director.
The Legislative Council is a bipartisan, bicameral body of legislators that provides oversight to the Legislative Services Bureau, which provides services to members of the Legislature, such as bill drafting and research.
