LANSING – State Representative Kathy Angerer (D-Dundee) was recently recognized by the Michigan Department of Community Health (DCH) and its public health partners for her strong support and dedication to public health issues.
"I am extremely honored to be recognized by DCH and its partners for the work I am doing to ensure the health and safety of Michigan's residents." Angerer said. "As a lawmaker, there is no greater issue for me than the well-being of our citizens. I am proud to be recognized for my commitment to promoting health and safety initiatives and working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to do what's best for everyone in our communities."
Angerer received the award for her strong support of public health and for her advocacy of programs crucial to maintaining good public health, such as access to healthy foods, opportunities for physical activity, injury prevention and clean air.
As Chair of the House Health Policy Committee, Angerer has brought focus to the Legislature's efforts to improve health care in Michigan. Angerer's priorities include access to quality and affordable health care; innovation in the health care field; and promoting patient safety and wellness.
"I remain committed to serving the people of Michigan, supporting good public health policy and finding the best possible solutions to issues through the legislative process," Angerer said. "I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues, DCH and other public health organizations to create a stronger, healthier Michigan."
In addition to DCH, Michigan's public health partners include the Michigan Association for Local Public Health; the University of Michigan School of Public Health; the Michigan Environment Council; Michigan State University; the Michigan Public Health Association; and the Michigan Public Health Institute.
