LANSING – The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan, based in Ypsilanti, recently recognized State Representative Kathy Angerer (D-Dundee) for her dedication in the field of health care.
"It's an honor to be recognized for the work I do promoting initiatives that safeguard the health and safety of Michigan's citizens," Angerer said. "There is no single greater issue than the well-being of all our residents, and I am proud of my commitment to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to do what's best for everyone in our communities."
Angerer received the award at the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan's SpringFest 2008 event held April 12-13 in Frankenmuth.
"The Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan does important work to support those who live with bleeding disorders and advance society's understanding of how to treat these disorders," Angerer said. "Seeing the hard work that's carried out every day by staff and volunteers of the Hemophilia Foundation of Michigan inspires me to continue my work as Chair of the House Health Policy Committee to improve the lives of Michigan's citizens."
As Chair of the House Health Policy Committee, Angerer has brought focus to the Legislature's efforts to improve health care in Michigan. Angerer's priorities include access to quality and affordable health care; innovation in the health care field; and promoting patient safety and wellness.
Organizations around the state have recognized Angerer for her commitment to serve the people of Michigan. Earlier this year, Angerer was recognized by the Michigan Pharmacists Association for her efforts to support good public health policy; the group cited her bipartisan approach to seek "the best possible solutions to issues through the legislative process."
Last year, Angerer was recognized by the Michigan Department of Community Health as a "Public Policy Champion."
