On January 1st, 2006, a ban on new trash landfills in Michigan will expire. For years, Michigan has become the region’s dumping ground because we’re a cheap place for other people’s garbage. The reason we’re cheap? We have an abundance of landfills. More landfills will open the floodgates to more trash from Canada and other states like Ohio and Wisconsin. Our communities have paid the price. We call on Republicans to end their strategy of delay and stand up for Michigan families and extend the ban on new landfills before it’s too late.
