LANSING – House Majority Floor Leader Kathy Angerer (D-Dundee) today was named Chair of the House Committee on Ethics and Elections for the 95th Legislature. Angerer also will serve on the Oversight and Investigations Committee.
"I am honored to be appointed Chair of the Ethics and Elections Committee," Angerer said. "A democracy cannot function without fair, well-run elections. I look forward to ensuring that the state holds our elected officials to the highest possible standard as we work to move Michigan forward."
Angerer's priorities for the 95th Legislature include creating good-paying jobs for Michigan workers and revitalizing our economy. She also will work to strengthen education to guarantee Michigan the workforce needed to compete for jobs in high demand fields such as renewable energy.
Angerer previously served as Chair of the Health Policy Committee and as a member of the committees on Education, Agriculture, and Energy and Technology during the 94th Legislature.
"It's no secret that Michigan is facing a long road to economic recovery," Angerer said. "We need a Legislature that will work for our residents by creating jobs and rebuilding our economy. It won't be easy to travel the road that's ahead of us, but I'm confident that by working across party lines and acting in the best interest of our residents, we can revitalize Michigan and get our economy back on track."
